Harry and Meghan’s UK Return and Hollywood Impact

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the United Kingdom may mark the end of their Hollywood aspirations. According to Eric Schiffer, chair of Reputation Management Consultants, their move back to the UK signifies a major setback for their stardom in America. He remarked, “This is the kiss of death to stardom in America for both of them.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to Britain at the end of August. However, they have not sold their home in Montecito, California, sparking speculation that the move might be temporary.

Current Projects and Future Uncertainty

Despite their relocation, Harry and Meghan have ongoing Netflix projects. These include adaptations of Carley Fortune’s romance novel “Meet Me at the Lake” and Major Adam Jowett’s Afghanistan War memoir, “No Way Out.” It remains uncertain if they aim to continue film and TV projects in America or if they need to earn more to sustain their lifestyle. Their Hollywood reputation might be affected by the latest move.

Challenges Faced by Harry and Meghan

Harry and Meghan initially enjoyed success in the U.S., signing multi-year deals with Netflix and Spotify and launching their Archewell Foundation, now known as Archewell Philanthropies. However, recent years have presented challenges. Critics ridiculed Harry’s 2023 memoir, “Spare,” particularly for its personal anecdotes.

Their Spotify deal ended after a single podcast, Meghan’s “Archetypes.” Spotify executive Bill Simmons labeled them “f****** grifters.” Meghan’s lifestyle show, “With Love, Meghan,” received poor reviews, and its second season did not gain strong viewership on Netflix.

The couple faced pressure to validate their U.S. efforts before returning to the UK. Schiffer noted, “There was devastating incompetence in navigating their own march to stardom in the U.S.” He criticized their approach, emphasizing their advocacy for causes important to young people, which occasionally overshadowed their victim narrative.

Possibilities in the UK

The couple has not confirmed their stay in the UK. Their Santa Barbara home remains unsold, adding financial burden while vacant. One possibility is Meghan’s return to acting. Although rumors suggested she was considered for a Netflix series role, offers fell through.

Schiffer believes her U.S. acting prospects are bleak, citing potential friction. He suggests they find fulfillment in philanthropy, indicating “they were the happiest when they did that.” He advises the couple to “connect with things that are meaningful.”

Harry’s Upcoming Charitable Activities

Prince Harry plans several charity engagements in September following their UK return. His office confirmed participation in the inaugural Invictus Spirit Awards, honoring those embodying resilience and service.

Harry will also launch INSPIRE, an educational initiative based on Invictus competitors’ stories, providing curriculum resources for schools. He is set to engage with pupils through activities like pickleball.

Additionally, Harry will attend the WellChild Awards in London, a charity he has supported since 2007. He will meet award recipients and deliver remarks during the ceremony.
