Maryland investigators are sifting through multiple data streams as they attempt to unravel a perplexing homicide case. A lawyer representing the accused shooter, however, claims the scope of the investigation is excessive.
A memorial in Montgomery County, Maryland, honors Jonah Mutua at the location of his untimely death, which occurred last year. According to authorities, the incident involved a man in a black face mask who unleashed 21 gunshots in the daylight, resulting in his target’s death within a neighborhood parking lot.
While the act of violence itself is evident, detectives are still trying to uncover the motive behind the attack. They are utilizing a combination of GPS data, phone records, and surveillance videos to gain further insight.
“Maryland authorities are compiling various forms of evidence to understand what led the shooter to the crime scene,” stated an official involved in the investigation.
The defense for the alleged gunman has raised concerns regarding the methods employed in collecting this evidence, suggesting that the investigation may infringe on privacy rights. Despite these claims, law enforcement continues to pursue all avenues to solve the case.
