Kyler Murray’s Difficult Start with the Minnesota Vikings

12 minutes ago 0

Kyler Murray’s debut with the Minnesota Vikings has been problematic. His first game as the team’s starting quarterback began with an interception on the second play of the opening match, marking his initial pass in a Vikings jersey.

Murray joined the Vikings in the offseason as their new key quarterback prospect. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it past the first quarter in Sunday’s game. On his third possession, Murray suffered a concussion and was removed for a medical evaluation. He was initially listed as questionable to return, but it soon became evident his day was over.

The situation worsened when Murray was hit by Packers defensive end Lukas Van Ness while scrambling. Shortly after, safety Javon Bullard tackled him, causing Murray’s helmet to fly off. Observers noted Murray’s worrying fencing response, an involuntary posture following a head injury.

Bullard received a personal foul for unnecessary roughness. Despite the incident, Murray managed to walk off the field unassisted and headed to the locker room. Carson Wentz replaced him to continue the game.

Next for Murray is the NFL concussion protocol. This involves assessments by independent doctors who will determine when he can safely return. Though the average recovery for a concussion is approximately two weeks, players occasionally recover within one or extend to three weeks.

This incident marks a challenging beginning to both the season and Murray’s tenure with the Vikings.
