Zachary Levi Moves from California to Texas: A New Beginning with Wyldwood Studios

2 hours ago 0

Zachary Levi has shared his reasons for relocating from California to Texas. In 2017, the 45-year-old actor, known for his roles in ‘Chuck’ and ‘Shazam!’, sold his Los Angeles home and acquired a ranch near Austin.

In a conversation with Fox News Digital, Levi discussed why he left California, referring to it as a ‘failed state.’ He mentioned his concerns about its current state, both literally and figuratively ‘on fire,’ as contributing factors to his decision.

I grew up in California, I love California, it is a failed state. It is literally and figuratively on fire.

Levi’s departure from California also stems from a desire to change the entertainment industry’s dynamics. He aims to create a new kind of studio, owned and operated by artists, to bypass middlemen and nurture a community-centric environment.

Ever since I started working in Hollywood, I saw how broken it was. I felt compelled to build a better Hollywood. A place owned by the artists where we can eliminate the middlemen. A place to work, live, and grow communities.

His vision bore fruit when he purchased 75 acres outside Austin, Texas, aiming to develop Wyldwood Studios. This $100 million project will combine film production facilities, housing, and wellness spaces, scheduled to begin opening in 2027.

Levi’s move included sacrifices, such as leaving behind community and family in California, for a bigger calling. Nevertheless, he embraces Austin’s climate and its lively environment.

I left behind a lot of community and family and perfect weather, but the calling on my life was more important. Austin’s great despite the weather challenges.

Aside from his move, Levi discussed his role in ‘The Fix,’ an action-thriller. Directed by Guy Moshe, the film sees Levi portray a CIA operative involved in a high-stakes mission in Tehran. The project offered Levi a chance to explore ‘grittier, darker’ roles in contrast to his previous work.

Liam Neeson, his co-star, praised Levi’s performance alongside Moshe’s script, citing its depth and intrigue.

It’s a terrific script by a talented director and writer. Levi is a wonderful actor.

The film also features actors such as Annet Mahendru, Grant Harvey, and Elnaaz Norouzi. Moshe noted Levi’s suitability for action roles, emphasizing his intense presence and physicality.

Levi’s an outdoors person, very physical, commanding presence. He exceeded expectations in action roles.

Levi’s on-screen partner, Norouzi, also shared her admiration for him. She praised his ability to build chemistry and support during their scenes together.

Zachary’s a fantastic actor with rare chemistry. It makes scenes compelling.

‘The Fix’ hits theaters on September 11, marking a new chapter for Levi, both onscreen and off.
