Ella Langley Makes Billboard Hot 100 History with ‘Choosin’ Texas’

Ella Langley achieved a significant milestone as her song “Choosin’ Texas” reached 23 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This surpasses Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for the longest-leading title on the chart.

Langley expressed her excitement and gratitude in an Instagram video, overwhelmed by the song’s success. She thanked her fans for their support and mentioned the impact on her life and the lives of the songwriters and her family.

This success allows her to pursue her passion for music full-time. “It’s changing my life,” Langley remarked, recognizing the significance of this moment.

Langley revealed plans to celebrate this achievement with her fans. She expressed amazement at the unexpected success, noting the song’s widespread appeal across diverse demographics.

“Choosin’ Texas” first appeared on the charts in November 2025. It cracked the top 10 in January and claimed the No. 1 spot for the first time in February. Additionally, it dominated Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for 41 weeks.

The song originated during a songwriting retreat with Miranda Lambert and two other writers. Langley shared the initial inspiration stemmed from a story Lambert told about her pet kangaroo.

“She recounted a time being pulled over with the kangaroo by her side, a memory that sparked the song,” Langley recalled.

This collaboration produced “Choosin’ Texas” within 45 minutes, capturing the essence of the storyteller’s Texan roots.

Langley emphasized Lambert’s support, highlighting her role as an executive producer and a source of guidance in her career.

Even Lambert found the song’s overwhelming success surprising, with her team reporting its impact regularly. As the song reached No. 5 in March, Langley expressed disbelief at its rise.

Six months later, “Choosin’ Texas” remains the longest-reigning No. 1 in Hot 100 history.

Langley continues to tour the country, sharing her milestone with fans. Recently, she posted photos from performances in Oxford, Mississippi; Athens, Georgia; and Jacksonville, Florida, capturing moments on and off stage.
