Voter Fraud and Border Protection Initiatives Detailed

Markwayne Mullin shared updates on border enforcement and critiqued the Biden administration’s border policies following 16 months of zero releases due to current enforcement strategies. He emphasized that DHS and ICE continue to focus on high-risk individuals to ensure the safety of American communities.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced charges against 16 individuals across several states for alleged illegal voting, voter registration, and other election-related crimes. These cases involve noncitizens accused of voting in federal elections.

The DOJ issued a warning, stating some charged individuals allegedly participated in the 2022 and 2024 elections. They cautioned against illegal participation in U.S. elections, stating, “Let this be a warning to ANYONE trying to cheat and undermine our elections.” The DOJ highlighted that eight noncitizens from Texas were charged, with additional cases in Idaho, Georgia, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Michigan.

“America’s elections are for Americans,” Assistant Attorney General Colin M. McDonald stated.

The allegations include noncitizens voting in federal elections, false claims of U.S. citizenship, and falsified statements connected to naturalization processes. Authorities discovered alleged passport and identification fraud, wire fraud, and firearm-related offenses during investigations.

This effort is part of a broader initiative to address alleged illegal voting activities. An example includes the arrest of Mexican national Monica Carzoli, who admitted to voting in the 2024 election, despite being a lawful permanent resident.

Instances of voter fraud involve Venezuelan national Analiea Milliscent Eccles in Georgia, who voted multiple times between 2008 and 2024. In Idaho, Avila Gomez, a Mexican national, falsely claimed U.S. citizenship to vote in May 2022 and November 2024.

Santana Coulibaly, a lawful permanent resident in New Jersey, faces charges for voting in federal elections in 2018 and 2020 and provisional voting in 2024. She allegedly made false statements in her naturalization applications.

Nigerian national Gladys Adaeze Okafor was charged with illegal voting in the 2022 and 2024 elections. Colombian national Julieta Englestad faces charges for claiming U.S. citizenship when registering to vote in the 2022 federal election.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin stated that a wider investigation is in progress, with over 1,620 open cases and 151 arrests. Authorities are examining more than 300,000 suspected cases, a number he said is increasing.

Mullin remarked, “Every single vote that was at the hands of an illegal [immigrant], canceled out a citizen that was legally registered and able to vote.” He underscored the significance of addressing these issues to protect the integrity of U.S. elections.

The Justice Department reminded the public that these charges are allegations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
