The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently reported that the 250-foot triumphal arch proposed by President Donald Trump will not present a hazard to aircraft. The proposed site for the arch is Memorial Circle in Arlington, Virginia.
To ensure pilots can easily identify the arch, the FAA’s aeronautical study recommended incorporating specific lighting measures. It suggested utilizing “a non-standard eternal flame,” along with continuous floodlighting by searchlight projectors positioned around the structure’s base.
This lighting strategy aims to enhance the visibility of the arch, ensuring safety and clarity for aviation operations in the vicinity.
