Cornell University Faces Legal Action Over Alleged Fraternity Rape Incident

1 hour ago 0

A woman has taken legal steps against Cornell University and specific individuals from the Chi Phi fraternity. She claims she was a victim of a ‘gang rape’ that took place at the fraternity’s premises in 2024.

As of September 28, 2026, state prosecutors in New York have reignited their investigation into the alleged incident. The move followed the filing of a civil lawsuit earlier this month, which attracted wide national interest. The District Attorney for Tompkins County, Matthew Van Houten, announced on Monday his decision to seek criminal charges against the seven accused individuals. He plans to present these charges to a grand jury.

The scenic view of the Cornell University campus located in Ithaca, New York, serves as a backdrop to this significant development involving serious accusations against the fraternity members.
