Authorities have confirmed the identity of a body found in a Texas creek through DNA testing. The remains belong to Rana Nofal Soluri, a missing flight attendant whose roommate has been charged with her murder. Soluri, aged 47, was discovered by a fisherman on the bank of Brushy Creek in Montague County, Texas.
The Fort Worth Police Department spokesperson informed NBC News that DNA testing at the University of North Texas Health’s Center for Human Identification confirmed the remains were Soluri’s.
Rana Soluri, who worked for Envoy Air, a subsidiary of American Airlines, had been reported missing since March 2025. She was supposed to return to work at the end of March after taking leave for a minor procedure but was reported missing by a co-worker in June.
Details of the Investigation
Soluri’s remains were found on June 13, nearly a year after she disappeared. Dennis Day, Soluri’s former roommate, was arrested and charged with murder the same month. Police reported that Day confessed to strangling Soluri during a dispute. He allegedly transported her body approximately 70 miles away and disposed of it over a bridge.
Surveillance footage from Day’s home allegedly captures him dragging a lifeless body into the backyard. Police indicate that Day mistakenly made a call and left a message on another woman’s phone, seeking help.
The woman, Joni Thomas, also known as Joanne Walters, faces charges of tampering with evidence. Prosecutors state that Day boasted in jail they could not convict him since Soluri’s body was missing.
Court Proceedings and Community Support
A GoFundMe page set up for Soluri’s daughter, Lulu, states that American Airlines facilitated transporting Soluri’s remains to Seattle for a burial. Lulu plans to attend future court proceedings to provide a statement.
The community has rallied to support Lulu, highlighting the impact of the tragic event. The Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office has filed notice regarding Day’s jailhouse claims. Both court cases involving Day and Thomas are still pending.
