A young boy, aged four, was found with a gunshot wound to his head at a home on the city’s Far South Side on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred in the South Deering neighborhood, specifically in the 2200 block of East 99th Street. Chicago police reported finding the injured child at around 4 p.m.
Emergency services promptly transported the boy to Comer Children’s Hospital. Initially, his condition was described as critical. During their investigation, officers recovered a firearm at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding this tragic incident are under investigation by detectives from the Calumet Area.
