Cameras in a Delaware neighborhood recorded at least two masked men knocking on doors late Friday night, with one carrying an apparent rifle, according to police reports.
The New Castle County Police Department released images showing a man wearing a tactical vest and holding what seems to be a rifle while he knocked on a home’s front door. Another image depicted a different person wearing a black vest and mask as he approached a front door.
The individuals were seen in the 1200 block of Canvasback Drive in Mallard Pointe, New Castle, at around 10:50 p.m. Friday. Residents reported a suspicious person to the police.
According to witnesses, a man with a black hockey-style mask and tactical vest went up to homes carrying what appeared to be a rifle. After knocking on doors, he ran away.
Officers observed four men moving east on Mallard Road—two on bicycles and two on foot. Despite a search by police and a K-9 unit, the individuals were not found.
Police have not confirmed whether the weapons were real firearms. They suspect the weapons could be airsoft-style guns.
Authorities encourage anyone with information or home security footage from the area to contact them by calling 911 or 302-573-2800 for non-emergencies.
