Will County Elections: A Tense Showdown
Three incumbent candidates in Will County face challengers in the upcoming general election. Voters will decide on leadership for clerk, regional superintendent of schools, and treasurer.
Race for County Clerk
Republican Annette Parker, 56, of Crest Hill, and Democratic challenger Michelle Stiff, 59, of Joliet, vie for the role of county clerk. Parker took office following a special election and aims to continue modernizing the clerk’s office. She boasts a long resume, including 10 years on the Will County Board.
Stiff, director of Workforce Services Division of Will County, emphasizes accessibility and improved civic engagement. She proposes new advisory groups to tackle voter access issues and aims to include younger voters.
Regional Superintendent of Schools
Elizabeth Caparelli-Ruff, 56, seeks reelection against Theresa Rouse, 64. Caparelli-Ruff focuses on school safety and support, enhancing facilities, and improving graduation rates at Lincoln School.
Rouse critiques current regional services and advocates for 24-hour support lines for superintendents, priority support for smaller districts, and expansion of alternative education.
Will County Treasurer Race
Tim Brophy, 63, aims for a third term as treasurer, highlighting substantial interest earnings from invested county funds and digital payment adoption.
Challenger Carmen Maurella III, 51, stresses modernization, budget efficiency, and prevention of equity theft. His approach includes digital services for residents to track tax bills.
