Rams Missed Field Goal Costs Game; Alaric Jackson Faces Suspension

1 day ago 0

The Los Angeles Rams faced intense frustration after a missed field goal allowed the Buffalo Bills to claim a dramatic 37-34 victory in overtime on “Monday Night Football” during Week 5. The extra possession granted to the Bills led to their game-winning field goal.

In the wake of the match, Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson reportedly exchanged words with Bills’ edge rusher Bradley Chubb. Although the conversation’s content remains unclear, video evidence suggests Jackson threw a punch at Chubb. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jackson is anticipated to face a two-game suspension.

Jackson’s Expected Suspension

Adam Schefter reported on X, “Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson is expected to be suspended two games for punching Bills outside linebacker Bradley Chubb during Monday night’s postgame gathering, per sources.” Neither the NFL nor the NFLPA has officially informed the Rams about the suspension.

Game Aftermath and Reactions

The Rams, currently standing at 2-3, are scheduled to face the Arizona Cardinals and the Las Vegas Raiders over the next two weeks. Post-incident, Chubb expressed readiness to move past the event, saying, “It was an emotional game. Tempers flared… we flushed it and we’re on to next week.” Chubb, who recorded two tackles in the game, conveyed his focus on the upcoming week.

The Rams’ early-season performance, with three losses in their first five games, has been disappointing. Jackson’s incident was not the only source of discontent. Head coach Sean McVay mentioned plans for changes within the team in response to the loss. Subsequently, the Rams released kicker Harrison Mevis, who missed a field goal and had another blocked in overtime.
