Sienna Bialek Combines Passion for Volleyball and Nursing

1 hour ago 0

Sienna Bialek, a senior at Metea Valley, is known for her love of volleyball and her dedication to serving others. Standing at 5 feet tall, she aspires to become a nurse, following her passion for helping people.

Bialek is inspired by her grandmother, Rose, a retired radiology nurse. Bialek appreciates this shared passion, as they are the only two nurses in the family. Her teammates have noticed Bialek’s caring nature. Rachel Keeler, a fellow senior and setter, believes Bialek will make an excellent nurse because of her thoughtful and selfless attitude.

Outside of volleyball, Bialek excels academically with an unweighted 4.0 GPA. She is the vice president of Metea Valley’s Best Buddies club and participates in the Key Club, engaging in community volunteer work. On the court, her selflessness and dedication are evident during matches. She takes responsibility even when not at fault, demonstrating her team spirit and commitment.

Bialek, the Mustangs’ smallest player, shines in her second varsity season, playing the challenging position of libero. Coach Dave Macdonald praises her leadership and hustle. He compares her speed to Mighty Mouse, noting her ability to cover the court rapidly.

In a match against Geneva, Bialek showcased her skills with eight digs and two assists, despite Metea Valley’s 25-14, 25-8 loss on senior night. Macdonald commends her for facing strong hitters and her positive influence during practice.

Bialek’s athleticism is partly credited to her early gymnastics background. Her father, Robert, introduced her to volleyball, leading her to switch from gymnastics to the sport in seventh grade.

As Bialek’s senior night marked one of her last home matches, she expressed gratitude for her teammates, emphasizing their camaraderie and collaboration. Several fellow seniors also aim to enter health care, having chosen specialties or contemplating future roles.

Coach Macdonald is proud of his players’ aspirations, noting their potential to excel in health care. Bialek hopes to become a pediatric nurse, drawn to working with children, while enjoying her time with the Mustangs, who are set to face Neuqua Valley in the upcoming regional semifinals.
