The Los Angeles Dodgers faced a significant setback on Wednesday after losing 6-2 to the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series at Dodger Stadium. This defeat marked their third consecutive loss in the series.
Following the game, All-Star third baseman Max Muncy expressed frustration. “It’s a pretty simple answer. We’re playing like s—, they’re playing great,” Muncy stated candidly to reporters.
During the series, Muncy, known for his power hitting, has struggled. In the postseason, he’s 4-for-21, though three of those hits were home runs, all occurring in the National League Division Series. The Dodgers have failed to hit any home runs in their losses to the Brewers, struggling to capitalize on opportunities with runners in scoring position, with a poor 3-for-32 record.
On Wednesday, the Dodgers finally saw a breakthrough in the sixth inning. Catcher Will Smith hit a double to left-center field, driving in two runs and giving the team a temporary 2-1 lead. However, Brewers reliever DL Hall quickly extinguished the momentum by striking out the next two batters.
In the seventh inning, Jake Bauers of the Brewers turned the game around with a two-run home run, followed by another solo home run by Garrett Mitchell. These hits against Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell put the Brewers ahead 4-2.
The Dodgers failed to mount a comeback, ending the game with nine consecutive batters retired. This loss leaves them trailing 3-0 in the series, making their quest for a third straight World Series title appear unlikely.
The Dodgers now face the daunting task of avoiding a sweep by the Brewers, with the next game scheduled for Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
