Trump Launches Initiatives for Women’s Health Research

57 minutes ago 0

President Trump has signed an executive order establishing new offices focused on advancing women’s health research. He acknowledged First Lady Melania Trump for advocating the importance of this issue.

Trump stated, “Today we’re taking historic action to promote women’s health through all phases of life.” He noted that despite medical advancements, many women-centric health conditions remain understudied.

The executive order creates the Women’s Health Division at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and a White House Women’s Health Task Force. White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will lead the task force.

From the Rose Garden, Melania Trump emphasized, “Our mission must serve women at every stage of life.” This includes supporting young girls, mothers, and mature women.

A White House fact sheet indicates that areas needing more research include Alzheimer’s, endometriosis, polyendocrine metabolic ovary syndrome, infertility, maternal health, and menopause.

Previously, women’s health programs faced funding risks, such as the near funding cut of the Women’s Health Initiative program. NIH had considered cutting its funding to meet a $2.6 billion reduction mandate but later reversed the decision.
