Levi Kitchen secured the 2026 Monster Energy SMX 250 Class World Championship and has set his sights on a new challenge for the future: professional bass fishing. At 25, Kitchen looks beyond motocross to another passion for when his racing days end.
While representing the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team, Kitchen is often found on the water fishing in his free time. He shared in an exclusive interview with OutKick OutDoors his aspiration to compete in fishing tournaments eventually. His interest in competitive fishing was piqued after participating in the Bassmaster Classic Celebrity Pro-Am this year along with professional angler Tristan McCormick.
“It was amazing. Me and Tristan, we had a great time,” Kitchen remarked on the experience. Although the duo didn’t top the leaderboard, Kitchen was thrilled to catch a few fish and forge a new friendship with McCormick.
Growing up in Washington state, Kitchen developed an affinity for the outdoors. He discovered his father’s old fly rod as a teenager, sparking his interest in fishing. Despite living in Florida now, he maintains an annual tradition of steelhead fishing trips to Washington with his family and friends.
Kitchen continues to balance motocross with his love for fishing. Both offer contrasting experiences, yet maintain elements of competition. Fishing allows a calmer atmosphere than the fast-paced demands of professional motocross.
Participating in the Bassmaster Classic Pro-Am, Kitchen encountered sports figures like NFL Hall of Famer Randy Moss, who boasted a collection of fishing boats. He observed the camaraderie within the fishing community, a stark difference from motocross’s competitive edge.
Despite his aspirations, Kitchen isn’t ready to leave motocross. He has significant goals for the 2027 season, intent on winning both Supercross and Pro Motocross titles and eventually advancing from the 250 class. The 2025 Daytona crash taught him the importance of longevity, and he plans to sustain a robust career trajectory.
Levi Kitchen’s ambition to step into the bass fishing world when his motocross career winds down is clear. Until then, he’ll continue to pursue championships on his Kawasaki with future aspirations aligned to his love for fishing.
