1 hour ago 0

In their 23-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Washington Commanders’ defense demonstrated notable progress. This marked the first time this season that the entire starting defense was healthy and on the field together. The performance offered a glimpse of the potential many had anticipated since training camp.

Throughout training camp, the defense provided reasons for optimism both within the organization and among fans. Injuries, however, had previously impeded the unit’s ability to play at full capacity. Monday’s game in Santa Clara offered a renewed sense of promise, showing improvement in the defense’s capabilities, although further refinement is needed as the season progresses.

Linebacker Frankie Luvu played a key role, notably tackling 49ers running back Kaelon Black during the third quarter. The play highlighted the defense’s re-energized form and determination to build on their recent advancements.
