Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Sister Questioned in Immigration Fraud Investigation

46 minutes ago 0

Federal investigators questioned the older sister of Rep. Ilhan Omar last week in connection with an immigration fraud probe involving the congresswoman. According to Fox News Digital, Sahra Noor voluntarily spoke with authorities following a raid on Omar’s Washington, D.C. residence. The full details of Noor’s conversation with investigators remain unclear.

Both Noor and Omar arrived in the United States as children fleeing Somalia’s civil war. Noor presently resides in Kenya as per her LinkedIn profile but has been recently visiting the U.S. to promote her book, “Salt in the Snow: A Somali Immigrant Story.” Due to recent events, Noor canceled a scheduled Minnesota stop on her book tour. Originally planned for October 15, 2026, at the University of Minnesota Rochester, the event was canceled due to what Noor described as a “family emergency.”

The Department of Homeland Security’s investigative body, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), conducted the early morning raid at Omar’s home last Monday. Officials stated this was part of an immigration fraud investigation probing whether the congresswoman or her father falsified details on her citizenship application. If proven, these allegations could lead to Omar’s denaturalization, according to former border czar Tom Homan.

During the raid, federal agents seized Omar’s personal belongings including her phone, passport, and computer. However, her attorneys have called for the Justice Department to return some of the confiscated items. The probe reportedly involves subpoenas to about a dozen individuals, including Omar’s relatives.

While Rep. Ilhan Omar has not been publicly sighted post-raid, her husband has been seen around their home. Omar has yet to comment directly to Fox News Digital. However, she did issue a statement condemning the raid on social media, describing it as a misuse of federal power by the Trump administration. She emphasized that such acts are meant to intimidate political opponents.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Vice President JD Vance refuted claims that the investigation is politically driven. He emphasized adherence to legal processes and facts. Noor, Omar’s sister, did not respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital. Additionally, Omar’s attorneys have not yet commented on these developments.
