David Chokachi, aged 58, is in his peak physical condition due to a unique routine. Preparing for his return to the “Baywatch” set, 30 years after debuting as lifeguard Cody Madison, Chokachi overcame personal challenges and focused on optimizing his brain chemistry to improve both mental and physical health.
Chokachi, more fit now than during his original “Baywatch” stint, rises early at 3:30 AM every day, embracing this time as his optimal period for productivity. Influenced by neuroscientist Andrew Huberman and former Navy SEAL DJ Shipley, Chokachi adopts the practice of stacking micro wins, emphasizing daily achievements to enhance mindset and productivity.
He believes waking up early, even if not at 3:30 AM, contributes to increased productivity and a sense of accomplishment. This routine contributed to his readiness for reclaiming his role in “Baywatch,” showing impressive fitness results on set.
Chokachi’s twice-daily training sessions for six months prepared him for “Baywatch,” originally aired from 1989 to 1999, followed by “Baywatch: Hawaii.” The series became a global sensation, reaching over 1.1 billion viewers weekly across 142 countries in 1996.
Despite feeling at his physical peak during the show, Chokachi asserts he is fitter now, adopting a leaner approach not focused on weights. He maintains an efficient daily routine, avoiding excessive dieting or drinking, enhancing not only fitness but his acting capabilities.
Chokachi’s next challenge is the 3rd annual Malibu Moves race, aiming to complete a 5k carrying a 45-pound backpack, termed “rucking,” which serves as a qualifying test for a local fire brigade.
He praises the community presence in Malibu, enjoying supporting events at Zuma Beach. Chokachi contributes by helping Wings of Rescue transport endangered dogs and volunteering with the fire brigade.
He aims to leave the world better, setting an example for his daughter to follow his mission of community service and personal improvement.
