BUENOS AIRES — Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, the former president of Argentina, has requested the United Nations Committee on Human Rights to examine her legal case. She is currently serving a six-year house arrest sentence due to corruption charges.
On October 15, Fernández de Kirchner appeared at her residence in Buenos Aires. She stepped onto the balcony of her home, which features tall, arched doors, to address supporters.
A group gathered below her apartment was returning from a demonstration. They were protesting against educational budget cuts implemented by the libertarian President Javier Milei. The crowd had paused in front of her home to express their support for her by chanting her name.
