Senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed addressed President Donald Trump and his opponent in a assertive victory speech on Tuesday night in Michigan. After defeating Republican Mike Rogers, El-Sayed remarked that his opponents had engaged in one of the harshest campaigns in recent memory.
In his speech, El-Sayed stated, They might have targeted my name and faith, but we all know those aren’t the reasons you struggle to pay for gas or groceries,
emphasizing the economic issues facing many Americans.

El-Sayed highlighted Trump’s offensive rhetoric, noting, To all the parents who struggle to explain the president’s open mockery of someone’s name or faith, remind them tomorrow that those who spread hate lost.
He asserted, They envision an America that excludes some of us, yet we are aware that America is inclusive for all.
He also jabbed at Vice President JD Vance, stating, There’s irony in the fact that you must swear me in January. So, Wolverine one, Buckeye zero.

El-Sayed turned his attention to foreign policy, expressing opposition to U.S. funds being spent on what he described as apartheid or genocidal war
and advocated for focusing U.S. resources domestically.
Mocking his opponent once more, El-Sayed told Rogers to enjoy your retirement
and added, May we never have to see the likes of you in the state again.
Throughout the campaign, El-Sayed managed to overcome criticisms regarding alleged connections to the Muslim Brotherhood, his stance on Israel, and controversies surrounding ties to political streamer Hasan Piker. Meanwhile, Rogers struggled with Republican difficulties, such as economic issues and controversial foreign policies, despite efforts to dissociate from these matters.
El-Sayed’s triumph represents a significant setback for the GOP’s criticisms of progressive Democrats, with opponents labeling him as a socialist and communist throughout the campaign. His victory points to changing political dynamics in Michigan and underscores challenges faced by the Republican party, amplified by national events and policy debates.
