Shelley Duncan, who has managed the Yankees’ Triple-A team, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, for the past four seasons, is set to join the Red Sox’s major league staff. This move places him under the leadership of manager Chad Tracy.
Duncan, 47, comes from a baseball family. His father, Dave Duncan, served as a pitching coach for a long time. Shelley Duncan himself was the Yankees’ second-round draft pick in 2001. He spent the first three seasons of his seven-year major league playing career with the Yankees.
Before managing the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre team, Duncan gained experience with the Diamondbacks, Blue Jays, and White Sox organizations. He took on his management role at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before the 2023 season and earned the title of International Manager of the Year in 2025.
His family ties to baseball include his brother, Chris Duncan, who played five seasons in the majors with the Cardinals.
MassLive first reported Duncan’s move to the Red Sox. His addition to the staff represents a significant shift as he joins one of the Yankees’ historic rivals.
