Caitlin Clark’s influence stretches beyond her time on the court. Even though the WNBA season has ended, her attendance at the Illinois vs. Penn game did not go unnoticed. Illinois defeated Penn 112-70 at the State Farm Center. During the postgame news conference, players Quentin Coleman and Zavier Zens were visibly shocked to learn that Clark had been in the stands.

A reporter questioned the players, asking, “Were you two aware that Caitlin Clark was in the building prior to tip-off, and if so, did that contribute to your level of play this evening?” This revelation left Coleman in disbelief. “Wait, wait, wait, Caitlin Clark was in the building?” he asked with surprise. Realization quickly turned to excitement, with Coleman exclaiming “Yo!” with a smile and a hand across his forehead.

Coleman commented, “I gotta tell my sister, bro. Yo, Caitlin Clark. I mean, shoot, I mean for him, he was shooting lights out. She shoots lights out, so I guess he felt that so,” while gesturing to Zens. Zens delivered a strong performance, scoring 18 points, including 4-for-8 from 3-point range, despite being unaware of Clark’s presence.

Clark attended the game with her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, who is the son of Penn head coach Fran McCaffery. They were seen sitting behind the bench. Connor McCaffery works as a player development assistant for the Noblesville Boom of the NBA G League. Clark and McCaffery have been dating since April 2023.
