The Philadelphia Phillies are expected to pursue new talent this offseason following their disappointing postseason performance. Improving the outfield remains a priority, and they’ve been linked to one of baseball’s top free agents.
Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report predicted the Phillies will sign star outfielder Randy Arozarena to a five-year, $140 million contract. This move addresses their need for outfield enhancement and an impactful hitter.
Adding Arozarena makes sense. The Phillies aim to strengthen their lineup, and Arozarena’s presence could be valuable. Yet, the contract has its risks; Arozarena will be 32 in 2027, raising concerns about long-term performance.
Nevertheless, with their need for more offense and Arozarena’s proven talent, the risk might be justified. In the 2026 season with the Seattle Mariners, Arozarena played 154 games, hitting 26 home runs, stealing 26 bases, and maintaining a .281 batting average.
