In the race to succeed U.S. Representative Danny Davis, Democrat La Shawn K. Ford defeated Republican Chad Koppie. With 89% of the votes counted, Ford secured 165,886 votes, representing 89.1% of the total, compared to Koppie’s 20,238 votes.
The Associated Press declared Ford the victor less than an hour after the polls closed.
Illinois’ 7th Congressional District, which covers part of Cook County, showcased strong support for Ford in this election.
