Trump’s Second Coast Guard Academy Commencement Address

1 month ago 0

On a Wednesday afternoon, President Donald Trump spoke at the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. This marked his second time delivering the commencement address as commander in chief at this academy.

“I’m excited to be the first president to give a second keynote address at this prestigious institution,” Trump announced to an audience of cadets dressed in crisp uniforms. “I am honored by this privilege.” However, he is not the first president to do so. Predecessors such as Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama have also given multiple speeches there.

During the address, Trump highlighted the Coast Guard’s role in the Iran conflict. Despite his enthusiasm, the cadets responded with minimal applause. In 2017, during his first visit to the academy, Trump’s presidency faced different challenges. Yet, his call to action remained consistent, urging cadets to “fight, fight, fight” whenever danger arises.

“You have to put your head down and fight, fight, fight,” Trump advised in 2017, reinforcing the same message in his latest speech.

As he spoke, similarities in rhetoric from the past echoed in the present, reflecting his unwavering approach to leadership.
