Jaylen Brown’s Feud with Stephen A. Smith Intensifies

1 month ago 0

Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown’s season might have concluded, but his ongoing feud with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has gained momentum. Brown recently voiced his discontent through a livestream, reacting to Smith’s earlier comment instructing the NBA player to “be quiet.” This follows Brown’s accusation against NBA referees of having a biased agenda after the Philadelphia 76ers triumphed over the Celtics in a series comeback.

Brown tweeted on X his intention to “be quiet” once Smith retires. He emphasized his stance during a Sunday night livestream, stating, “Did he just say I needed to be quiet? Be quiet for who? Man, f— Stephen A. Stephen A, Stephen B, Stephen C. My offer still stands. You want me to be quiet and stop streaming, well, I want you to be quiet and get off these networks because you’re not using your platform to do real journalism. You’re using your platform to use clickbait.”

He further criticized Smith for being synonymous with clickbait media and expressed hope that Smith’s retirement might initiate a movement towards genuine accountability and integrity in sports journalism.

In a separate incident, Smith questioned the safety of NBA players in Memphis, prompting a response from Grizzlies guard Ja Morant during a 2024 NBA event.

Brown analyzed a clip where Smith commented on Brown not featuring Jayson Tatum in his stream, using the situation to label Smith a “clown.” Despite challenges, Brown highlighted how teamwork and leadership propelled the Celtics beyond expectations this season. He played 71 games, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists, lifting Boston to a 56-26 record and an Atlantic Division title.

Smith previously said Brown should “be quiet” unless he wants a trade from the Celtics.

Ryan Gaydos, a senior editor for Fox News Digital, reported these events.
