Attending a Major League Baseball game requires constant attention. A fan at T-Mobile Park in Seattle learned this the hard way. Jamie Golla sat near third base for the Mariners’ game against the San Diego Padres. Her friend recorded a selfie video of their enjoyment during the fifth inning.
Unexpectedly, the video captured a painful moment. A foul ball from San Diego’s Sung-mun Song hit Golla on the head. The sound was shocking, causing concern among fans nearby.
“I’m feeling a little better than yesterday. My head is still a bit swollen, and I’ve been getting minor headaches here and there, but overall I’m doing okay. I appreciate the people who have been checking up on me,” said Golla.
Golla visited Harborview Medical Center afterward. Though surprised by the video’s popularity, she felt grateful for support from others. Mariners staff checked on her and offered tickets for a future game.
The game ended with the Mariners shut out, losing 2-0 to the Padres.
