Pete Hegseth has assumed the role of U.S. Defense Secretary under President Donald Trump’s administration. His swearing-in took place on January 25, 2025, with Vice President JD Vance officiating the ceremony.
Hailing from Minnesota, Hegseth has an impressive academic background. He graduated from Princeton University in 2003 and furthered his education by obtaining a master’s degree from Harvard University in 2013.
Hegseth’s military career is notable for his service in the U.S. Army National Guard, where he participated in several active-duty deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. His dedication and bravery have been recognized through various accolades. These include two Bronze Star Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB), the Expert Infantryman Badge (EIB), and the Joint Commendation Medal.
