Stampede Injures 19 at Cultural Festival in Atlantic Beach

At least 19 individuals sustained injuries during a stampede early Sunday morning in Atlantic Beach, South Carolina. Horry County Fire Rescue teams arrived at a ‘stage area’ near South Ocean Boulevard around 1:05 a.m., supported by local law enforcement, to provide assistance to the affected individuals.

The event where the incident occurred has not been officially named, but the Black Pearl Cultural Heritage and Bike Festival, which is hosted annually during Memorial Day weekend, was ongoing according to the Town of Atlantic Beach. This festival typically attracts large crowds, reaching numbers of up to 40,000 attendees.

Horry County Fire Rescue crews have confirmed that three people received hospital treatment, while others likely sought medical aid independently. The injuries reported are considered non-life-threatening.

Authorities have yet to disclose the cause of the stampede. The Black Pearl Cultural Heritage and Bike Festival remains a significant attraction for Atlantic Beach, drawing visitors in large numbers for the holiday weekend.
