Country musician Jake Worthington is taking a step back from his career. The 30-year-old, known for his stint on The Voice in 2014, shared his decision on social media. He expressed a need to focus on personal matters for the sake of his family.
On Instagram, Worthington wrote, “I live a life as my heroes did, but that life gotten ahold of me. I love my family, my friends and my fans too much to let it take over me. I need to take some time to work on myself for my wife and daughter.” In his farewell for now, he reassured fans, “I promise I will come back even better. God bless country music.”
“This takes a lot of courage. Proud of you!” commented fellow musician Carly Pearce, while Dierks Bentley added, “La you bro!”
Worthington, along with his wife Sophie, was recently seen at the 59th Annual CMA Awards, marking his engagement with the music world. Fans have shown unwavering support, with many encouraging him to prioritize well-being and family.
Jake Worthington is not alone in this decision. Earlier in the year, Chase Rice also declared a break from the hectic pace of touring.
In January, Rice shared his own struggles, stating, “I’ve been touring for 13 years and I’ve lived a dream far greater than I could’ve ever expected.” He mentioned that his life on the road had exhausted him both physically and mentally.
“I haven’t been able to be myself on stage in quite a while and really enjoy music and why I got into it in the first place,” Rice explained. “I love songs, I love living them, hearing stories from other people, and figuring out how to put that life into music.”
Rice emphasized his need to step back, stating, “After 13 years it’s finally beat me up to the point where I need to step away for a while. I need to go live life so that I have more real experiences to write down.”
His announcement was personal and significant, as he indicated, “I won’t be touring this year. It wasn’t even really a decision, it was something I know that I have to do for myself.” Both artists show that stepping back can be an essential part of staying true to themselves and their music.
