Jonathan Andic, the son of the Mango clothing empire’s founder, has publicly denied accusations of murder related to his father’s death in Spain. Andic described the allegation as ‘serious, unjust and unfounded’ in a letter addressed to staff. This announcement comes with his decision to resign as vice president of Mango’s board to concentrate on his legal defense.
‘A public narrative has been created based on a view that is biased, distorted and taken out of context, which has created a perception of guilt that has nothing to do with reality,’ Andic, 45, expressed in his letter, which marks his first public statement on the matter. He emphasized his need to focus entirely on proving his innocence while ensuring the company’s stability.
On May 19, 2026, Andic left the Juzgado de Instruccion 5 in Martorell after securing his release with a one million euro ($1.2 million) bail. This action followed his arrest in connection with the investigation of his father’s death.
The incident in question occurred on December 14, 2024, when Andic’s father, Isak Andic, fell to his death while the two were hiking in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona. Initially deemed accidental by investigators, the case was reopened by prosecutors in October 2025, shifting focus to Jonathan Andic.
Following his father’s passing, Jonathan Andic was appointed the executive vice president of Mango’s holding company in January 2025, as noted by the Reuters news agency. His arrest has further complicated the ongoing investigation, highlighting the complex legal and corporate challenges he faces.
