Supreme Court Blocks Florida Lawsuit Against California, Thomas and Alito Dissent

4 weeks ago 0

On Tuesday, Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissented as the Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit filed by Florida against California. The case involved allegations that California improperly issued commercial truck driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants.

The lawsuit followed a tragic incident last year in Florida. It involved a crash where a truck, driven by Harjinder Singh, resulted in the deaths of three people. Florida claimed that Singh, an Indian national without legal status, had been wrongly issued licenses in California and Washington. Singh is now facing criminal charges related to the accident.

Justice Thomas expressed his disagreement in a written dissent. He stated, “This Court declines to even hear Florida’s claims, even though it has nowhere else to bring them. Because I would allow Florida to file its complaint, I respectfully dissent.” His dissent was included in the orders list that the Supreme Court released on Sunday.

This situation continues to unfold, and further updates will provide additional details.
