Washington Nationals Executive Fired After Video Leak

4 weeks ago 0

The Washington Nationals faced controversy after a video published by Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe surfaced. The video allegedly captured Sean Hudson, the team’s director of community relations, discussing how pitcher Trevor Williams was excluded from certain social media promotions due to past religious comments. The video led to calls for a Department of Justice investigation, including from Representative Lauren Boebert.

In the leaked conversation, Hudson reportedly mentioned Williams’ opposition to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. This group, honored by the Los Angeles Dodgers, is known for mocking Christian and Catholic traditions. Hudson allegedly stated that the Nationals avoid featuring Williams on social media because of his religious stance.

The Dodgers had a group… who were drag queens who sometimes dressed up as nuns. He [Trevor Williams] went on social media like… ‘This is my religion. You all are mocking it… Because of that, we [Washington Nationals] don’t use him [Trevor Williams] on social [media].

According to The Athletic, the Nationals dismissed a community relations executive three days after the video’s release. This decision followed revelations about internal discussions on various issues, including decisions about social media and interactions with defense contractors.

The Nationals did not comment on Hudson’s firing but did provide a statement to Fox News Digital. A spokesperson refuted the claims made in the video, asserting that the statements were inaccurate and did not represent the team’s values. The Nationals claim to remain committed to fostering an inclusive environment for all involved with the team.

Hudson has not addressed the situation publicly, declining to respond to calls or emails. Updates on this story continue to emerge. For more information, visit foxnews.com.
