Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that the Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation into President Donald Trump was extensive, impacting even Mar-a-Lago staff members such as gardeners and low-level aides. These employees needed to hire criminal defense attorneys.
Blanche detailed the investigation on the “Hang Out with Sean Hannity” podcast, describing it as evidence of a “weaponized” justice system. He noted that nearly everyone associated with Trump required legal representation, including his Secret Service detail.
Virtually anybody associated with President Trump had to get a criminal defense attorney. I’m talking about his gardeners at Mar-a-Lago, talking about his Secret Service detail. His Secret Service detail has to go testify in front of the grand jury.
Blanche, who previously served as Trump’s lead criminal defense attorney, expressed his belief that the DOJ used its power unfairly. He mentioned that many criminal defense attorneys are now part of the current administration due to the investigations.
He mentioned in the podcast that if you were a high-ranking official under Trump, you needed a defense attorney. The legal scrutiny extended beyond individual targeting.
In a recent development, Blanche confirmed that the DOJ would not pursue the proposed $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund. This fund was part of a settlement agreement involving Trump and the IRS, but legal challenges led to its temporary blockage by a court ruling.
During a Senate hearing, Blanche affirmed this decision, reinforcing that there would be no further pursuit of the fund.
