Talk show host Bill Maher shared that he will appear in a documentary about Charlie Kirk, a slain conservative activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA. Maher made this announcement during a conversation with comedian Jeff Dunham on “Club Random.” Dunham commended Maher’s previous interview with Kirk as especially memorable. Kirk, known for his willingness to debate across political lines, was killed during a campus event in September.
Maher expressed his enjoyment in hosting Kirk, stating, “By the way, they’re doing a documentary and they asked if I would be in it,” Maher revealed. “I said yes. I’m giving them five minutes after my taping Friday night because – and I told them, ‘Don’t expect me to be just saying you know, hagiography about Charlie.’ I liked him as a person. I’m glad I talked to him.”

Maher has often criticized Democrats for avoiding conversations with their opposition, including those who are more moderate, like himself. Despite Kirk’s controversial political statements, Maher refuted the notion that they portrayed Kirk as a “monster.” Maher emphasized, “I do not think he was a monster.” He explained that while some critics mischaracterized Kirk’s statements for political gain, even accurate portrayals of Kirk’s statements didn’t justify the negative labels.

Kirk continues to be discussed as a symbol of free dialogue between individuals with opposing views. Maher commented, “Again, it’s always in the middle. It wasn’t as bad as they said, but I still disagree.” Dunham praised Maher’s interview approach, highlighting that Maher listened and engaged thoughtfully during discussions with Kirk.
Maher remarked, “My little motto here is everybody’s a monster [until] you talk to them,” reflecting on his interactions with various famous conservatives. Maher further criticized Democrats for shunning dialogue with opposition, while noting that Republicans are generally more receptive to conversation.
Bill Maher will feature in an upcoming documentary about Charlie Kirk. Alexander Hall, an associate editor for Fox News Digital, contributed to this report. For further media and culture coverage, access additional information through Fox News.
