Challenges Faced by ‘Dutton Ranch’ Cast Amidst Rattlesnakes and Harsh Terrain

Filming in Texas can present unique challenges, as highlighted by ‘Dutton Ranch’ actor Cole Hauser. In a recent episode of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ Hauser and co-star Kelly Reilly discussed the significant safety concerns encountered during their shoot.

Hauser revealed that within an eight-month period, the cast and crew encountered about 3,400 rattlesnakes while filming in Fort Worth, Texas. This substantial number of snakes even led to early shutdowns of production.

Reilly recalled a particular incident when they found a den of 40 to 50 rattlesnakes, which caused them to abandon a night shoot. Such encounters underline the hazardous conditions faced by those working on the set.

Additional challenges arose in Montana and Texas while shooting other productions by Taylor Sheridan. Michelle Pfeiffer, who plays Stacy Clyburn in Sheridan’s Paramount+ show ‘The Madison,’ shared her experiences of dealing with the harsh filming environments.

Pfeiffer noted the absence of basic amenities like bathrooms and air conditioning while filming in the open terrain. The lack of trailers due to the 360-degree shooting style compounded the challenges, leaving cast members without typical comforts.

She mentioned the struggles of adapting to the conditions. Cast members had to ask for basic necessities like heaters in winter and umbrellas for the scorching summer sun.
