Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer highlighted the Democratic successes in the midterms by mocking a memorable photo from his past. The Brooklyn Democrat uploaded an Instagram image showcasing himself pleased beside a grill crowded with burgers and hot dogs. The faces of defeated Republicans, President Trump, and Vice President JD Vance were placed on the cooked items, with Vance featuring a meme version of his face.
The post came after Democrats secured 54 seats by Wednesday, November 4, 2026. Schumer captioned the image, “54 seats and counting. And I learned how to grill…these burgers and dogs are finally cooked.” This humorous moment recalled an earlier photo from Father’s Day 2024, where Schumer had shared a grill overloaded with raw patties, one already topped with cheese. The image faced online mockery, leading Schumer to delete it.
