The Clemson Tigers once again receive a cautionary note from the National Weather Service as they prepare to host No. 4 Miami on Saturday night. Clemson has already encountered weather disruptions in their first three games of the season. Their season opener faced a nearly two-hour delay before they suffered a defeat against Lane Kiffin and LSU with a score of 51-10 in Baton Rouge.
Similar delays occurred before their Week 2 victory against Georgia Southern, which ended 22-7. In Week 3, a lightning delay halted play in the fourth quarter. After resuming, Clemson completed a comeback to secure a 28-20 win over North Carolina.
In Week 4, the Tigers encountered no weather issues in Berkeley, California, defeating California 24-10 and improving their season record to 3-1. Their upcoming game against Miami marks their first match against a ranked opponent since the LSU game, where weather could again influence the outcome. Dabo Swinney needs a strong performance from his team.
Chapel Fowler of The State Newspaper reports that Clemson is monitoring forecasts of potential heavy rain and thunderstorms. The schedule remains unchanged as of this publication. “Clemson is ‘monitoring potential inclement weather’ for Saturday’s game vs. No. 4 Miami, with heavy rain and thunderstorms anticipated,” Fowler shared on X. “Currently, there are no changes to the kickoff time, which is still set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, but any alterations will be announced.”
Clemson struggled against weather interruptions in Week 1. However, North Carolina faced challenges with their offensive strategy coming out of the lightning delay in Week 3, leading to a field goal after a promising drive. With both Miami and Clemson familiar with rainy conditions, no team is expected to gain a significant advantage under such circumstances on Saturday night.
