Conor Kennedy and Brazilian pop star Giulia Bourguignon Marinho, known as Giulia Be, celebrated their wedding in Rio de Janeiro. The festivities, which started on October 8, included several iconic locations around the city.
Conor Kennedy is the son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who served as Secretary of Health & Human Services during the Trump administration. The couple had their official civil ceremony in Los Angeles in March, as reported by Vogue.
Highlights of the Celebration
The three-day event began with a welcome party in the Alto da Boa Vista hills. The next day featured beach volleyball at Ipanema and a blessing at the Christ the Redeemer statue on Corcovado Mountain. These celebrations combined to provide stunning views of Rio.
“We wanted to celebrate not just the wedding, but also Rio de Janeiro, the city we love,” Marinho explained in an interview.
The religious ceremony took place at Igreja Nossa Senhora do Carmo da Antiga Sé, a historic church in downtown Rio. This venue, known as Antiga Sé, has roots dating back to 1808 when it served as the royal chapel for the Portuguese royal court.
Unique Venues
The reception followed at Instituto Brando Barbosa in Jardim Botânico, an area known for its rich plant collection and historic grounds. The venue offered guests a unique view of Rio’s natural beauty.
Family Connections
Conor Kennedy is the grandson of the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy and the nephew by marriage of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. Giulia Be’s choice of a Calvin Klein slip dress for the ceremony drew comparisons to Carolyn’s understated elegance.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shared photos from the celebration on social media, capturing moments like family gatherings beneath the Christ the Redeemer statue, and his wife Cheryl Hines with samba dancers.
The event also provided an opportunity for the Kennedy family to enjoy a slice of Brazilian culture. Guests were immersed in the vibrant spirit of Rio, enhancing these memorable celebrations.
