Conor McGregor Discusses Injury and Future UFC Plans

2 weeks ago 0

Conor McGregor has offered an account of the injury he sustained during his brief return to the UFC at an event on July 11 in Las Vegas. McGregor, who suffered a technical knockout against Max Holloway in UFC 329, described the initial realization of his injury as ‘quite shocking.’ He shared that the injury involved both his ACL and meniscus.

“It is the same injury as the first Holloway fight, only this time the opposite leg. Quite shocking,” McGregor stated.

The bout took place at T-Mobile Arena and marked a significant moment for McGregor, more than a decade after first fighting Holloway. Despite the untimely injury, McGregor remains optimistic.

“With today’s advancements in regenerative medicine and improved training methods, I expect to return by next summer,” he confidently remarked. “I am walking without a crutch and have been doing leg exercises without issue. My commitment and discipline remain unwavering since the bout.”

During UFC 329, McGregor attempted a jumping roundhouse kick, resulting in his injury upon landing. Holloway capitalized on the situation, but the fight was stopped by referee Mike Beltran seconds into the first round, securing Holloway’s victory in an anticlimactic end to the co-main event.

McGregor expressed his disappointment on social media, writing, “I had no injuries before the fight. This happened unexpectedly, putting me in a very dark place.” Footage from his camp showed McGregor practicing the same kicks in the locker room without difficulty.

Despite the setback, McGregor, now with a UFC career record of 22-7, remains determined to recover and return to fighting. He intends not to conclude his career with this loss.
