Controversy in Alaska’s Senate Race

1 hour ago 0

The recent decision by Alaska’s Division of Elections sparked significant controversy. The division, led by Director Carol Beecher, removed Daniel J. Sullivan from the U.S. Senate race ballot. This decision surprised many, given Beecher’s background as a Republican activist and donor.

Daniel J. Sullivan, a retired schoolteacher, sought to contend in the Senate race. However, Beecher’s ‘final decision’ denied him the chance, raising questions about constitutional rights. Critics argue that no Alaska law empowers Beecher or Lt. Gov. Nancy Dahlstrom to make such a decision, calling it an overreach of authority.
