CNN host Jake Tapper recently addressed a controversial claim made by Jill Biden. In a video posted on Thursday, Tapper mentioned that Jill Biden did not display any signs of concern about her husband, then-President Joe Biden, after the 2024 debate. This claim came in the wake of Jill Biden’s revelation that she had feared her husband was having a stroke during the debate.
Tapper, who co-moderated the debate with Dana Bash, shared that the Bidens approached them after the event. ‘They did not act as if anything significant had occurred’, he said. Tapper noted that they engaged in ‘polite chitchat’, giving no indication of Jill Biden’s later described concerns.
The debate in question occurred in June 2024. Jill Biden’s statements have drawn criticism from both Democrats and Republicans. In a CBS interview, Jill Biden described feeling frightened by her husband’s performance, referencing his raspy voice and halting responses. Despite her later admission of concern, she appeared calm during the debate’s aftermath.
Following the debate, Jill Biden accompanied her husband to a local Waffle House and praised his performance publicly. Her remarks, ‘Joe, you did such a great job! You answered every question’, seemed inconsistent with her later interview comments.
CNN host Abby Phillip commented on the situation, criticizing the Democratic Party for its handling of the issue. Phillip emphasized the need for a discussion on the ‘deceptiveness’ behind the scenes, questioning why such matters were not addressed in the party’s assessments.
In related news, Tapper co-authored a book titled ‘Original Sin’. The book explores the alleged cover-up by President Biden’s team regarding his mental decline, ultimately leading to Kamala Harris replacing him on the Democratic ticket in 2024. Fox News Digital has reached out to Joe Biden for comment on these developments.
