Costco Employee Charged with Murder After Fatal Incident

A Costco worker in a Seattle suburb is facing charges after allegedly causing the death of a co-worker. Reports indicate that the incident was fueled by anger and jealousy.

Tyler Sorensen, 22, has been charged with second-degree murder. The charge follows the death of 20-year-old Jonathon Langdon on July 31 in Issaquah.

According to court documents, Sorensen is alleged to have followed Langdon from a Costco parking lot. Sorensen reportedly swerved into Langdon’s lane, hitting his motorcycle.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office provided video footage showing the moments before the collision occurred.

Aftermath and Investigation

Authorities reported that Langdon was thrown into a metal signpost. Sorensen fled but returned to the scene an hour later with a family member to discuss the incident with investigators. The affidavit states Sorensen only paused to check if his car could be driven home.

Motive

According to investigators, Sorensen’s actions followed a moment of jealousy. He allegedly witnessed Langdon hug a female co-worker whom Sorensen thought was his girlfriend. Sorensen texted friends saying his “blood is boiling.” However, the female co-worker denied any romantic involvement with Sorensen. She mentioned he had been “crossing boundaries” previously.

Statement from Authorities

Sorensen admitted to the act. He claimed the intent was to “spook” Langdon, not to hit him. Issaquah Police Chief Steve Mylett expressed condolences to Langdon’s family and friends for the loss.
