Craig Carton and Michael Rapaport Share Their Dislike for LeBron James

Craig Carton and Michael Rapaport are not just die-hard New York Knicks fans; they also have a strong aversion to LeBron James. Rapaport joined Carton for the debut of OutKick’s “The Craig Carton Show,” sharing his perspective on the Philadelphia 76ers star as someone he loves to hate.

Carton expressed that while he respects James’ basketball skills, his primary reason for disliking him stems from a 2017 off-the-court incident. He discussed this during the premiere of his new show, stating, “Years ago, when he was in Cleveland, and our country was going through racial issues.” Carton claimed that James invented a story about racial epithets being spray-painted on his driveway gate.

The Associated Press had reported that unknown vandals spray-painted the N-word on the front gate of James’ $20 million home in Brentwood. Police were notified of the incident at around 6:45 a.m., and property management covered it up nearly three hours later. No arrests were made.

Carton believes James used the event to insert himself into the broader conversation on racial issues, commenting, “For a guy who’s such a prominent African-American to try to get in on the conversation by inventing something that never took place.” He feels the incident has been forgotten because no one challenges James about it.

Michael Rapaport shares this disdain for the NBA legend, albeit for more personal reasons. He recalled meeting James during his rookie year with the Cleveland Cavaliers, only to be snubbed by him years later when seeking a picture with his young children. Rapaport described how James refused the request, stating, “I brought my little kids… and he like Heismaned.” After this encounter, Rapaport’s opinion of James changed drastically.

Despite previously refraining from criticizing James, Rapaport’s perspective shifted after this event. He speculated that a rumor involving friends might have influenced James’ behavior, saying, “That has nothing to do with—these are little kids.” Rapaport concluded, “You’re done.”

The Knicks fans will have more opportunities to watch the 41-year-old as he begins the season with the 76ers. Their first game is at Madison Square Garden against the defending champions.
