NAIROBI — Health experts are urgently working to control an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. They suspect this outbreak began months before its official recognition.

Data from the government indicates there have been over 2,000 fatalities due to the virus so far. According to reports from the Associated Press, there have been 2,011 deaths and 4,381 confirmed cases.

In Bunia, a city affected by the outbreak, volunteers are actively involved in handling dangerous situations. They are donning protective gear to manage cases such as retrieving the body of a young child believed to have died from Ebola.

This fast-moving crisis demands a coordinated response. Health professionals and local volunteers are key in attempting to contain the spread of the disease.
