Fatal Rollover Crash Occurs in Barrington Hills

Early Saturday morning, a fatal rollover crash occurred in Barrington Hills. Authorities reported that the crash took place around 2:20 a.m. near Hills and Dales and Brinker roads. These roads remained closed for approximately eight hours following the incident.

The vehicle involved was a blue Mercedes SUV, which police say was traveling at high speed northbound on Brinker Road. The SUV crashed into a nearby lawn, according to the Barrington Hills police department. Evidence from the scene included a damaged tree marked with paint used in the investigation.

One individual was killed, and two others sustained injuries. The identities of those involved have yet to be released.

The SUV reportedly slid and rolled about 400 feet. It clipped two trees, went over a culvert, and eventually toppled a large oak tree. The vehicle came to a stop near Hills and Dales Road. During the crash, one person was ejected from the car, and two others had to be extricated by first responders.

Zach Swiatek, a local resident, woke up at the time of the crash, which occurred near his home. Swiatek observed the aftermath, including the SUV crashed into his large 60-foot tree with the engine and transmission detached.

First responders arrived quickly, cutting through the vehicle’s roof to rescue the trapped individuals. The homeowner noted that the road outside his house is prone to single-car crashes due to its narrowness and lack of a shoulder.

Swiatek, witnessing frequent accidents, described this incident as particularly tragic. He mentioned that speeding is a typical cause of such crashes, exacerbated by icy conditions in the winter. They must have been traveling fast to cause such damage, Swiatek remarked.

Barrington Hills Police are continuing their investigation into the crash. This was a horrible accident, and my heart goes out to the people involved and their families, Swiatek expressed. Huge loss today.
