Former Michigan Coach Sherrone Moore’s Legal Troubles and Future Plans

Sherrone Moore, the former head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, was dismissed following an affair with an executive assistant. Moore and his spouse are preparing to relocate, having listed their Ann Arbor, Michigan, residence for $1.7 million as per Realtor.com. The home, identified by The Detroit News, is situated on Walnut Ridge Drive and features five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, sitting on half an acre. It was previously sold for $1.3 million in 2023.

Moore had been part of Jim Harbaugh’s coaching team, working as an offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. He temporarily filled in as acting head coach for a game due to Harbaugh’s suspension. Later, Moore took on the role of head coach after Harbaugh moved to coach the Los Angeles Chargers following a national championship win.

Moore received an 18-month probationary sentence after entering a no-contest plea to two misdemeanors. His legal troubles escalated when he allegedly forced entry into the residence of the woman he had the affair with and threatened self-harm.

The relationship, once disclosed to Michigan authorities by the assistant, led to Moore’s termination. In court, Moore’s wife, Kelli, supported him by writing a letter to the judge, urging leniency. Judge Cedric Simpson remarked on Kelli’s strength, noting her resilience and continued support for Moore despite the circumstances.

The future destination for the Moore family remains uncertain as they aim to move past the scandal. The prospects of Moore securing another coaching position in football seem slim.

The court ordered Moore to pay a little over $1,000 in fines and mandated ongoing mental health treatment. He must abstain from alcohol and marijuana, avoid weapons, and maintain no contact with the alleged victim. Moore’s coaching record at Michigan was 16-8, with a suspension hampering his tenure due to a sign-stealing investigation.
