Caleb Flynn, a former music pastor from Ohio and a past contestant on ‘American Idol,’ currently stands trial on charges of murdering his wife, Ashley Flynn. Ashley, a schoolteacher and volleyball coach, was shot at their home in Tipp City, which is located north of Dayton. Caleb has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, assault, and tampering with evidence.

A significant aspect of the trial includes testimony from Alleigha Botner, who claims she had an affair with Flynn. Botner detailed the extent of their relationship, which began in 2022 during her internship at his church. She stated that Flynn frequently expressed hatred towards his wife and even mused about wanting her dead.
“He told me that he hates her,” Botner testified. “He told me the only reason that he’s still with her is because of the girls.”
Additional evidence presented by prosecutors includes AI-generated love songs purportedly created by Flynn for Botner, alongside more than 100,000 text messages exchanged between them. Botner’s testimony revealed exchanges wherein Flynn discussed fantasies of harming Ashley.

Flynn allegedly staged a home invasion to divert attention from himself as a suspect. In his 911 call, he claimed a burglar had shot his wife. Upon police arrival, signs pointed to disarray, with doors ajar and a missing weapon from Flynn’s truck console.

Flynn faced eight days of testimony from 40 prosecution witnesses. Despite the prosecution’s extensive presentation, Flynn’s defense chose not to call any witnesses or have him testify.
During the trial, the jury saw video footage of Flynn’s police interviews, where he described waking to gunshots and maintained they were a regular couple who loved one another.
